Neova to donate Eur 100,000 to the University of Jyväskylä

Neova Oy has decided to donate Eur 100,000 to the University of Jyväskylä as part of the government’s matched funding campaign in order to support Finnish research and higher education that is important for the company. The donation will be directed to the field of natural sciences.

For decades, Neova has cooperated with the University of Jyväskylä on research and development, and this cooperation has deepened in recent years. Neova Ventures product development laboratory was founded in connection with the Jyväskylä University in 2018. In the Neova Refinery product development programme, which is funded by Business Finland, the Jyväskylä University produces high-quality scientific research on biomasses for the interface of research and product development and thus helps to respond to Neova’s product development needs.

“For Neova, working together with the university is an important part of implementing our strategy of green growth, where the target is to promote food production and achieve a clean living environment. Neova is particularly interested in renewable, organic natural materials and side streams that can be utilised in growing media and products of high added value, such as activated carbon in cleaning air and water, and biostimulants in improving the growth of plants. We strive to utilise raw materials in a way that is as efficient and versatile as possible by growing the added value of materials and by reducing the environmental impact,” says Vesa Tempakka, CEO at Neova.

“The university highly appreciates the donation from its long-term partner Neova. The company and the university have similar targets to promote circular economy and sustainability science. This donation to the field of natural sciences strengthens the research and education in the field,” says Keijo Hämäläinen, Rector of the University of Jyväskylä.
