Spring peat production season started in Estonia

The spring peat production season has started at the Lavassaari production site in Estonia. The spreading of sod peat on the field and the milling of horticultural peat started on Monday, 18 April 2011.

According to Matti Puuronen, Vapo’s Director of Baltic Operation, this is a very early start. Snowfall has been exceptionally heavy also in Estonia this winter, and at the moment some parts of the country are suffering from heavy floods.

“The thanks for the early start go to our well-prepared subcontractors”, explains Matti Puuronen. The subcontractors are Timberstone for sod peat and Massiner for horticultural peat.
